About Taylor

Taylor Walters Denyer is
a neurodivergent missiologist, pastor, and global nomad who is passionate about naming and addressing the toxic beliefs and unhealed traumas that undermine the development of healthy communities and boundary-crossing relationships. She currently lives in Cairo, Egypt, with her husband (a foreign service officer) and daughter. She is an elder in The United Methodist Church's North Katanga Conference and has lived/served in India, Slovenia, Algeria, Djibouti, Zambia, DR Congo, Chile, and the USA.

Taylor earned her BA/MA in International Development from American University (Washington, DC), her MDiv from Wesley Theological Seminary, and her DTh in Missiology on the topic of Decolonizing Mission Partnerships via the University of South Africa. In 2019, her doctoral thesis was selected by the American Society of Missiology for publication in its monograph series. Her academic writings have since been included in multiple books and journals.

Taylor wears multiple professional hats. She is on faculty (teaching courses on United Methodist studies, mission, and cross-cultural immersion) at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. She also has served as a faculty advisor for doctoral students at Bakke Graduate University and is on the board of directors of Wesley College (Tanzania). As a pastor and missiologist, she serves as the Bishop's Executive Assistant for the UMC's North Katanga-Upemba-Tanzania Episcopal Area and president of Friendly Planet Missiology (FPM).

Taylor offers coaching services to individuals and organizations. She is available for consultations and frequently accepts invitations to lead seminars and retreats on rethinking our approaches to helping and serving others. Recently, she has begun speaking and writing on the topic of monotropism and the neuroqueer community.
